Who we are
MAPPD ("we", "us") is a relationship-memory app operated by Mappd Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales ( 17406795), registered address 5 Ducketts Wharf, South Street, Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, CM23 3AR. For any privacy question, email privacy@getmappd.io.
What MAPPD does
MAPPD helps you remember and make the most of the people you know. You tell it about people and conversations; it remembers what you tell it and suggests introductions, opportunities and follow-ups. Your network is private to you.
What we collect
Your account: your email address, your first and last name, and a password (stored only as a secure hash).
Your profile: anything you choose to add — photo, job title, company, phone, email and a short bio.
The people you add: names and anything you record about them — role, company, location, industry, how you met, notes, tags, photos and reminders. If you import from your phone's contacts, you choose which people to import, and we copy only their name, company, phone number and email address. We never read your whole address book into MAPPD.
What you tell MAPPD (Quick Capture): when you tell MAPPD what happened — typed or spoken — we save your words exactly as you wrote or said them, as a memory. From each memory we also save:
- facts about the people involved (for example "is hiring a CFO" or "works at Barclays"), with when they were noted;
- commitments — promises you or they made ("I'll send the deck"), which can come back as follow-ups;
- who knows whom — when a memory shows that two people you know already know each other, so MAPPD doesn't suggest introducing them.
Nothing from a capture is saved until you confirm who it's about.
Suggestions and what you do with them: the introductions, opportunities and follow-ups MAPPD suggests; whether you act on them or dismiss them; and, if you tell us, what happened afterwards.
Usage information: a record of what happens in the app — for example that you opened it, made a capture, or opened, acted on or dismissed a suggestion — with basic details such as counts, types and dates. This never includes the content of your notes, memories or messages. We also record technical information needed to run the service, such as your device platform and how much processing each request used.
Feedback: anything you send us through the app.
We do not track your location or read your messages, emails or calendar.
Voice
If you use voice capture, your audio stays on your phone. It is transcribed by your phone's own on-device speech recognition and is not recorded or saved. If your phone can't transcribe on the device, MAPPD won't offer voice at all. Only the resulting text transcript is used — in exactly the same way as text you type (see below).
How we use your information
- To run MAPPD: store your network and memories and show them back to you.
- To generate suggestions and answers: we use Anthropic's AI service. When you make a capture, look for opportunities, or ask MAPPD a question, we send Anthropic the information needed for that request:
- for a capture: the text you wrote or the transcript, plus the names, roles and companies of the people in your network and the facts already noted about them, so it can work out who the capture is about;
- for suggestions: the people in your network with their role, company, location, industry, how you met, notes, tags, the facts noted about them, who knows whom, and open commitments;
- for a question: your question and the people in your network with their details, notes and tags.
Phone numbers and email addresses you import are never sent to Anthropic. Anthropic processes this data only to answer our request, under its commercial terms, which do not allow it to use the data to train its models. Anthropic is based in the United States, so this data may be processed there.
- To improve MAPPD and measure the beta: we use the usage information above to understand whether MAPPD is useful — for example how many people keep using it, and how often suggestions are acted on. We report this only as totals and percentages (for example to investors). No individual's name, email, notes or network is ever included, and MAPPD's own team and test accounts are excluded.
- To respond to feedback and support requests.
What we don't do
- We do not sell your data — your relationship data or anything else — and we do not use it for advertising.
- We do not share your network with other users. Nothing you store is visible to any other MAPPD user without your permission; today MAPPD has no feature that shares anything between users at all.
- MAPPD never contacts anyone in your network. It can draft a message for you, but it only ever opens your phone's share sheet so that you can decide whether, how and to whom to send it.
Who processes your data for us
- Supabase — stores your account and data in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany). Every record is protected by row-level security so it is only ever accessible to your signed-in account. Photos are stored privately and can only be viewed by you.
- Anthropic — AI processing, as described above.
- Expo — delivers MAPPD's app updates. When the app checks for an update, Expo receives technical information such as your device type, app version and IP address.
- Resend — sends account emails such as sign-up confirmation and password reset codes.
- Apple (TestFlight) — distributes the beta. Apple handles any information it collects under its own privacy policy.
Connections are encrypted in transit.
The people you add
The contacts, notes and memories you store are yours. You're responsible for having a reasonable basis to keep information about the people you add, and for keeping it accurate and respectful. If someone asks us to remove information about them, we'll help.
Your rights
You can, at any time:
- see and edit your data directly in the app;
- delete your account in the app: Profile → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, contacts, notes, memories, facts, commitments, suggestions, photos, reminders and usage records. It is immediate and cannot be undone;
- ask us for help with access, correction or deletion by emailing privacy@getmappd.io.
If you're in the UK or EU, you also have the right to complain to the ICO (or your local regulator).
What we keep after you delete your account
To keep our beta measurement honest — so that people who stop using MAPPD are still counted — we keep one anonymous record for each deleted account. It contains only: a random account ID that no longer links to your name, email or anything you stored; the date you signed up and deleted; the dates you were active or made captures; and counts (for example how many memories you made or suggestions you acted on). It contains no name, email address, contacts, notes, memories or messages. Copies of deleted data may also remain in our infrastructure provider's routine backups for a short period until they are overwritten.
Retention
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, it is deleted as described above.
Children
MAPPD isn't intended for anyone under 16.
Changes
We'll update this page if our practices change and note the date above.
